KARACHI – Nimra Baig, a student from Karachi, was fatally shot after she was caught in a crossfire between police and robbers.
Baig, who was reportedly a medical student, died after receiving a head injury after a shot fired from a small weapon perforated her head, causing a skull fracture and damaging the brain. The incident took place near Anda Mor in North Karachi area.
Dr Zakia, who works at Jinnah Hospital told The Express Tribune that a CT scan of Baig’s head was conducted and several X-rays of other body parts were done but traces of the bullet were not found. The bullet wound left a 2.5cm deep head injury at the right side of the head.
The shot was allegedly fired from a small weapon and a postmortem report is to be conducted to help determine whose gun the bullet came from.
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has taken notice of Baig’s death, saying that such incidents were intolerable. Additional IG Karachi has been asked to give an incident report, with the CM stating he wants a detailed report outlining who was at fault. — Courtesy The Express Tribune
